We are looking to recruit a Unit Manager to join our team at our Burford site


Your job role will be to assist the General Manager and Clinical Care Manager to manage the Home smoothly, efficiently and cost effectively in accordance with the high standards of EFHL with due regard to the National Minimum Standards and to support the CCM in all clinical and care matters.


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

1. To assist the General Manager and the Clinical Care Manger in running the home

2. To ensure residents receive the appropriate care to their needs

3. To manage the care unit


To assist the GM and CCM in running the Home

· To assist the General Manager and Clinical Care Manager in ensuring that the Home maintains an atmosphere of well being, security and efficiency by exercising professional leadership.


· To comply with the NMC’s Code of Professional Conduct and Scope of Professional Practice at all times, including the fulfillment of PREP requirements.


· To act at all times in a professional manner and exercise leadership by example, keeping professionally updated and aware of developments in nursing practice, theory and research and to pass on this knowledge to other staff when appropriate.


· To ensure that Registered Nurses (RN’s) comply with the NMC’s Code of Professional Conduct and Scope of Professional Practice.


· To ensure that all Care Staff comply with the Codes of Practice issued by their regulatory body.


· Assist the CCM in the monitoring of the duty rotas ensuring continuity of care and the appropriate number and skill mix of staff are on duty.


· To assist the General Manager and CCM in ensuring all staff complete their induction training.


To ensure residents receive appropriate care to their needs

· To ensure full support for the residents and enable them to live as full and active a life as condition will allow, to build up and maintain their self-confidence, and to encourage physical, intellectual and social activities both inside and outside the Home.


· Monitor and ensure effective communication with residents and their families keeping them informed of any changes to the resident’s condition.


· To ensure that all residents have full nursing assessments, an individual care plan and risk assessment, taking into account and evaluating resident's preferences and preserving their dignity at all times.


· To assist in ensuring the security of all residents and the premises through the observance of security procedures and the challenging of any strangers in the Home.


To manage the Care Unit

· To monitor, review and ensure that all appropriate nursing documentation is in place in the unit and used correctly in accordance with the NMC’s standards on record keeping.


· To assist in the monitoring of standards of care by completing audits, supervision and communication as directed by the CCM.


· To be responsible for the safe custody of drugs, their administration and disposal in accordance with the NMC’s statement on the administration of medicines, assisting in the audit thereof.


· To liaise with day and night colleagues to promote continuity of care.


· To assist the CCM in the ordering and economic use of nursing supplies and to advise on new equipment requirements


· To train staff in the correct use of equipment.
