Early Years Practitioner

We are looking for a kind, caring, enthusiatic practitioner to join our nursery.

Requirements;

• Level 2 or 3 in Childcare (Level 2 applicants must have experience in a professional environment)
• Full time
• 36 - 45 hours per week
• Salary is dependent on experience/qualification (Pay is above minimum wage)
• 9 hour shifts (One week 8am -5.30pm, and the following week 8.30am - 6pm)

Purpose of the post:

• To contribute a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for all children in the nursery.
• To give support to other team members throughout the nursery.
• To work as part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, learn and develop.

Key areas:

• To read, understand and adhere to all the setting policies and procedures.
• To have a clear understanding of your safeguarding responsibilities and to act appropriately should areas of concern arise, in line with the setting’s policies and procedures.
• To be self motivate, professional and confidential in all areas of the role, demonstrating initiative, commitment and enthusiasm.
• To work individually and as part of a team in meeting the social, emotional, physical and educational needs of the children.
• To monitor and support each child’s progress, maintaining records and making individual plans.
• To build and maintain strong partnerships with parents.

Main duties:

• To work with the EYFS Statutory Framework and promote high standards of care for the children.
• To provide a warm, welcoming and secure environment for all the children in your care.
• To contribute to a programme of activities that meets the needs and interests of children in conjunction with other team members.
• To support and develop an environment which is inclusive for all and recognises and encourages diversity.
• To act as a Key Person and keep records of your key children’s development and learning journeys and share this with parents, carers and other key adults.
• To work in partnership with parents and carers, offering support, advice and guidance when appropriate.
• To work as part of a team, both within a room and as the whole nursery team.
• To attend and contribute to team meetings, training, parents evenings, etc. showing a positive attitude to self appraisal and career development.
• To be flexible within working practices of the nursery. Be prepared to help out where needed, occasionally working in different parts of the nursery or undertaking domestic jobs, e.g. laundry, cleaning, meal preparation.
