Sir Leslie Martin Day Nursery are looking for a passionate and experienced Nursery Deputy Manager to assist the Nursery Managers, in leading an enthusiastic and passionate team.


The successful candidate will have strong communication, a in-depth of knowledge of the EYFS, organisational and interpersonal skills. The individual must me highly motivated, have a positive attitude towards working with children and be ready to lead and manage our team.

The Deputy Manager will effectively lead, inspire potential and engage their team to deliver exceptional care and education to continue to be the provider of choice for families and employees.


The expectation is this will be delivered by being present throughout the day in the nursery rooms and can be as part of ratio staff if needed. You will deliver high engagement with staff and families whilst ensuring the expected levels of practice are consistently applied and fully embedded at every level.


The role is fundamental in the delivery of the strategic priorities for all key areas of People, Quality and Growth, and should be delivered through leading and managing by example, role-modelling best practice and observation and assessment of standards and practice throughout the nursery.

The role works in partnership with the Nursery Managers, to manage the execution of service delivery in line with regulatory, customer, client, and employee expectations, and to develop staff teams that achieve consistent high-quality performance within the nursery. The Deputy Manager alongside the Nursery Managers have the overall responsibility for the day-to-day oversight of safeguarding, health and safety practices and child protection in the setting and maintaining accurate and up to date systems and records at all times.


In the absence of the Nursery Managers, the Deputy Manager will have full accountability of safeguarding and health and safety practices.


The Deputy Manager working alongside the Managers, will be responsible for the effective leadership of the nursery team, providing training, coaching, and mentoring and implementing a robust performance management strategy supporting Room Leaders and team members to ensure service excellence for our current and prospective customers.


Must have experience working at Senior Level.


· Must be at least Level 4 preferable Level 5 qualified and have experience working at a senior level. This


· Have a detailed understanding of the requirements set by Ofsted


· Experience of managing budgets


· An excellent knowledge of the EYFS and experience of working with children and families


· Experience of managing/supervising staff with extensive knowledge of Safeguarding


· Experience of working in partnership with parents and outside agencies.


· Able to demonstrate multi agency working and experience of leading staff meetings.


· Managing and maintaining administration requirements
