At Your Choice Devon, we provide personal support, homecare and outreach services for young people and adults with additional needs. Our service strives to promote personal independence and wellbeing with a person centred approach. Offering support and guidance to individuals in daily life skills including cooking, cleaning, personal shopping, finances, social activities and involvement.


  • To ensure the good name of the company and behave in a professional manner while on duty
  • To assist the service user in their day to day living within their own home, promoting independence and diversity in their lives in accordance with the service user care plan
  • To assist service users with personal care, including getting up /going to bed, washing, bathing, dressing/undressing, and toileting
  • To assist service users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence and help in the use and care of aids and personal equipment
  • To help the promotion of mental and physical activity of service users through talking to them, sharing activities such as reading, writing and hobbies, taking them out for recreational/social, educational and employment activities
  • To do light cleaning tasks such as, changing beds, tidying rooms, laundry (washing & repairing), empty commodes
  • Planning, preparing and serving meals, feed service users who need assistance, wash up tidy away and clean kitchen / dining room
  • Answer the door, telephone, greet visitors and correspond with relatives and healthcare professionals
  • To read and write reports, take part in staff meetings
  • Attend formal and informal training opportunities to enhance understanding of service users’ needs and abilities
  • To adhere to company policies, procedures and guidelines
  • To perform other duties as may be reasonably required
  • To report significant changes in the service user’s health and circumstances, to the duty manager
  • To handle finances for the service user as documented in the service users care plan
  • To assist with medication once training has been undertaken and as documented in the service user care plan
  • To inform us if you are unable to attend a shift


Training & Development


Staff are to agree to continually improve their knowledge and skills through training programmes developed by the Company. There are training schedules in place for staff to attend periodically.

Attend formal and informal training opportunities to enhance understanding of service users’ needs and abilities.

It is a requirement of this post that you complete the care certificate within 6 months.

You are invited to start the Diploma in health & social care (adult) Level 2 after 6 months.

Essential skills/Experience Experience preferred but not essential as we provide a fully paid training and induction program. Ideal candidate will be willing to work every other weekend, have full UK driving licence and own transport. Some walking rounds available
