As a senior staff member, you will be encouraged to work as part of the nursery team to ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, social care for children attending Little Twisters. You will give support to nursery personnel and line-manage the members of staff based within your room.

Reports to: Nursery manager and Deputy manager

Job purpose:

·        To work alongside the manager and deputy to ensure the staff team deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum to an outstanding standard.

 

·        To formulate and operate a program of experiences and activities suitable for the age and range of children in your room in conjunction with your staff team, other senior members of staff, the deputy and manager.

·        To understand and promote the ethos of the company and uphold the highest standards of childcare.

·        To look upon the setting as a “whole” with awareness of other rooms and children’s needs.

·        To manage and support allocations throughout the day communicating with other senior staff throughout ensuring morning and evening roles are completed to a high standard using knowledge of staff qualification and strengths to ensure these are completed to a high standard within expected timescales.

·        To ensure good standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times and to be responsible for the Health and Safety standards appropriate for the needs of the children.

·        To observe and understand the rules of confidentiality promoting this amongst immediate team and whole nursery.

·        To actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people within the setting, ensuring the nurseries policies and procedures are observed at all times.

·        To support and promote equality and diversity.

·        To ensure planning and the nursery routine is followed alongside the allocation of time to plan for and complete children’s learning journeys within your room and establish reviews for parents and carers in conjunction with the manager and/or deputy.

·        To ensure daily activities and routines are completed with expected outcomes which are documented on the daily news feed and shared on the Famly app no later than 3.30pm.

·        To build positive relationships with children, families and internal/external professionals demonstrating positive behaviour and expectations.

·        To support staff and engage in being an outstanding staff team at all times ensure staff placement fully supports children in activities and they are engaged with throughout the day.

·        To performance manage, appraise, observe and feedback to the staff within your room. Delegate throughout the day and manage any immediate staffing issues where appropriate before signposting to the manager and deputy manager.

·        Communication is vital and the use of books to share information with parents and staff should be implemented and used daily.

·        To foresee the needs of all children and give physical, emotional and intellectual guidance as appropriate.

·        To be involved in out of work activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, fundraising events.

·        To be flexible within working practices of the setting, be prepared to help where needed including to undertake certain domestic jobs for example preparation of snacks and meals alongside the cleansing of equipment.

·        To learn, understand and implement the Little Twisters policies and procedures within the nursery.

·        To record accidents and incidents, ensuring the manager has confirmed knowledge of this before the parent/carer receives it.

·        To ensure each child is collected by someone known to the setting.

·        To ensure mealtimes are pleasant and a social experience.

·        To provide warmth and comfort if a child becomes ill.

·        To ensure the setting is a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development.

·        To participate in training programmes of a wide variety of students (i.e. placements and volunteers of all ages)

·        To promote the nursery to current and potential parents, ensuring we stand out at all times.

·        To be punctual and follow the nurseries correct uniform at all times adhering to the staff book rules.

·        Drive own development through active participation in progress reviews, appraisals, one to ones and requesting supervisions when required.

·        To use information technology systems as required to carry out the duties of the post in the most efficient and effective manner.

·        To undertake other duties as appropriate to the post that may reasonably be required from time to time.

Essential skills/Experience minimum two years experience is required.

Welcome to Little Twisters Day Nursery, a new and exciting childcare provision.


At Little Twisters Day Nursery, children can enhance their development in the secure and enclosed outdoor space. The spacious garden has rubber surfacing which is safe for even our smallest babies to explore with confidence. We have created an allotment area for the children to grow their own fruit and vegetables, which they can enjoy during activities, snack and mealtimes.


We now offer FREE childcare for 3 and 4 year olds 15 hours per week, Term time only.


Open 51 weeks a year 7.30am to 6.00pm for babies and children from 6 weeks to 5 years.


We offer the following sessions: Full Day 7.30 am - 6.00pm. Half days 7.30am - 12.30pm or 1.00pm- 6.00pm. School day 9.00am-3.00pm
