We are currently recruiting a Deputy Nursery Manager role for an excellent nursery in Burley in Wharfedale, Ilkley. You must be an enthusiastic early years professional with good leadership, teamwork and customer services skills and of course the ability to deliver top quality childcare.

You will be providing high standards of childcare and education by offering a safe, caring environment to enable the emotional, social and educational development of all children.

Requirements:

  • To promote the high standards of the nursery at all times to parents, staff and visitors, ensuring a welcoming environment, professional manner and helpful attitude.
  • Liaise with parents, other family members and staff to ensure that the particular needs of children are met and that parental choice is considered in terms of care given.
  • To provide an attractive and stimulating range of activities both indoors and outside, relevant to the age, and capabilities of the children in the room.
  • To understand the developmental needs of children, showing patience, tolerance and warmth at all times.
  • To observe safety measures at all times with particular emphasis on the fire drill and total nursery security.
  • To assist with staff development and training, keeping these records up to date.
  • It is an expectation at your expense that you attend any training and staff meetings (approx. 6 per year) inside and outside working hours.
  • This is beneficial to your role within the company and your own personal and professional development.
  • To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined from time to time by the nursery manager, deputising in their absence- our Deputy managers have an active room role to ensure the highest quality of childcare is provided and therefore they are predominantly rom based apart from the managers day off or if the manager has a specific task for them to do.
  • To supervise the nursery nurses, assistants and students, delegating tasks as required and ensuring good practice at all times from all staff
  • To ensure that the observation and assessment and planning process that is utilised in the nursery, is upheld and that all children’s profiles are checked regularly.

Qualifications & Experience

·        Childcare and Education qualification equivalent to NVQ level 3 or above

·        Be able to engage with children, staff and be creative

·        First Aid qualification

·        Sound knowledge of childcare development from birth to five years

·        Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role in a nursery as a Deputy Manager

·        Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding

·        Strong communication and supervisory skills

·        Ability to think critically, make decisions and work flexibly

·        Able to work independently and to manage own time efficiently
