Community Carer


Hours: 30 Hours a week

Salary: £11.20 Monday to Friday and £12.20 at weekends. Enhanced rate of £13.20 and £15.20 to help with extra hours at short notice. 45p per mile and driving time is paid.

MUST HAVE FULL UK DRIVING LICENCE


Ongoing training up to SVQ Level 2 


Duties Include:

· Performing basic care tasks as outlined in supported person/s care plan.

· Alerting the office of any changes to the health and circumstances of supported person as soon as possible to aid effective communication within the service provision.

· Creating and maintaining a good level of communication between supported person/s and carer staff - including the supported person with communication difficulties.

· Creating and maintaining an effective working relationship with supported people.

· Strive to develop an effective communication link between the usual care

· provider and family members in the supported person’s home.

· You shall maintain the supported person’s confidentiality at all times.

· Preparing and cooking meals if outlined in the supported person’s care plan, always paying particular attention to special dietary needs/requirements/allergies.

· Undertaking household cleaning and laundry duties as requested if out lined in the care plan.

· Purchasing provisions helping to provide a healthy balanced diet.

· Recording and keeping receipts if using supported person’s money for purchasing provisions.

· To adhere to all of Abbey Care Services policies and procedures.

Your duties are to undertake all care work with sensitivity required to provide a service which will preserve dignity, privacy, choice, safety, realizing potential and independence, fulfilment of the rights of the supported person/her or his usual carer/members of the family.


· Cleaning materials are supplied by the supported person.

· Abbey Care Services shall supply nitrile gloves, plastic apron, face mask and

antibacterial hand gel.

· Care workers are responsible for the safe handling of property and

equipment of the supported person.


Essential - Experience or understanding of care provision

Have an interest in providing a quality care service for the elderly and adults with physical disabilities.

Desirable - Experience of care provision
