Sunflowers Day Nurseries requires a qualified Deputy Manager to join their ever-growing team! If you are passionate about childcare, would love to work somewhere that makes a difference and be a valued asset to a team then we would love to hear from you.


The post is 40 hours per week. Part time hours are available should the applicant wish.


Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • To assist with providing the highest standards of quality care and education.
  • To assist with promoting the aims and objectives of the Nursery
  • To assist with always promoting the highest standards of the nursery to parents, staff and visitors
  • To have knowledge of and work within the framework of the Children Act, the Early Years Foundation Stage, Statutory Framework, the Nurseries Policies and Procedures and current legislation relating to childcare.
  • To ensure highest standards of health and safety, security, hygiene, and cleanliness are always maintained.
  • To ensure the provision of high standards of physical, personal, social, and emotional care.
  • To assist with leading a team of professional practitioners, and to always ensure good practice.
  • To assist with planning and organising staffing schedules – charts, and holiday rotas to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained in accordance with Ofsted.
  • To have knowledge of and be aware of and act in accordance with current legislation, good practice, nursery policies and procedures.
  • To adhere to, and support all team members to understand and follow, the legal requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • To follow and support staff to understand and implement the EYFS
  • To follow all relevant Acts including the Equality Act 2010 and the Data Protection Act 1998 that relate to staff employment and record keeping in line with General Data Protection Regulations-May 2018
  • To be responsible for all nursery staff, housekeepers, students and voluntary workers. Supervising and supporting all members of the nursery team in their day to day duties, including assisting with recruitment and induction, appraisals and reviews, training and development, individual supervisions and disciplines.
  • To assist with supporting all team members to work in partnership with parents/carers and other family members.
  • Liaising with Ofsted when required.
  • To assist with all administrative duties associated with the management of the facility, e.g. – maintaining records on the children and their families, ordering equipment, maintaining an inventory, keeping personnel records.
  • To assist with coordinating and chairing staff & room meetings as appropriate every 6-8 weeks, including agendas and minutes.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective communication links with other agencies. To create and maintain a culture of self-evaluation and reflective practices throughout the nursery on a weekly basis, and to be used in your supervisions.
  • To instigate the development and implementation of systems to monitor and record child development
  • To provide all team members with the support and resources required for the early identification and intervention for children with possible special needs
  • To attend all out of working hours activities e.g., training, staff meetings, parents’ evenings, promotional events etc.
  • To create and maintain a culture of self-evaluation and reflective practices throughout the nursery on a weekly basis.



Essential skills/Experience Full and relevant Level 3 certification - essential Paediatric First Aid - desirable Minimum 1 year experience in a Early Years role - essential
