Job Requirements / Description

Awelon Healthcare in Llanmaes (Llantwit Major) is a specialist residential provider who support vulnerable adults with Autism and needs associated with Autism, Mental Health and/or Learning disabilities who may present with challenging behaviours. We are seeking enthusiastic, passionate, reliable and caring support workers to join our amazing team. Your role will be to support individuals on a day to day basis to recognise and encourage choice, dignity, self worth and respect.

The role also includes:

  • Supporting individuals to achieve independence and personal goals.
  • Helping individuals who have mobility and continence problems using the appropriate aids and equipment.
  • Assisting individuals with daily living activities including dressing, undressing, bathing, and toilet.
  • Supporting and helping with health care needs, including routine checks or administering medication
  • Working with other health care professionals to ensure that care meet the highest standards
  • Supporting in physical and social activities
  • Complete records and documentation of progress, incidents and activities
  • Promote the right values and attitudes towards people with Autism, Learning Disabilities, Mental Health and behaviours that are described as challenging.
  • Ensuring that individuals sleeping, living, and eating areas are safe, comfortable, clean, and free from odour.
  • Encouraging and support individuals with feeding, preparing meals and refreshments.
Essential skills/Experience Experience in health and social care would be an advantage but not essential. Excellent communication skills Willingness to learn Be able to work as part of a team and work on own initiative. Compassionate, committed and reliable. Be flexible to work days, nights and weekends
Ideal Candidate/Profile It is also desirable but not essential if you Hold a full drivers licence Registered with Social Care Wales Hold a QCF level 3 in Health and Social Care Have experience in a support work enviroment with an understanding of Safeguarding.
