St Quentin Residential Home was originally built for Colonel Sir George Wade, the well-known pottery manufacturer who lived there from 1925-1952. He named the house St Quentin because he was awarded a bar to his M.C following the crossing by the South Staffs regiment of the St Quentin canal in 1918.
Subsequently the house was purchased by George Poole, a local builder who lived there until the Moorhouse family bought it in 1974. In 1988, still owned and managed by the Moorhouse family, St Quentin opened as a residential home for the elderly. Later in 2000 the Hawthorns was acquired, Followed by Langley House in 2018 which has undergone full renovation of the origional house and a large extension providing 22 bedrooms.
