We are a unique nursery on the grounds of a care home- the first intergenerational nursery in the UK- the children benefit from daily interactions with the residents of the care home and the huge beautiful grounds, including an aviary, a fish pond, and lots of nature. The care home is Jewish and the nursery follows a Jewish ethos which teaches children about a culture and faith (normally different to their own) and they learn about respecting this.

Staff are entitled to a paid 30 minute lunch break Monday-Thursday and finish early every Friday (either 2 or 2.30pm - depending on shift pattern).

To support the global development of all the children at Apples and Honey Nightingale following the EYFS within the principles and ethos of Apples and Honey Nightingale. To be a reliable member of a team and work in co-operation with others to provide high quality education and care in a stimulating, educational environment with a commitment to the nursery’s policies and Jewish Ethos.

Contact is full time for 40 hours each week, working a rota pattern across the week ( we can offer flexibility with fixed hours across the week where needed).

Staff members receive the standard holiday entitlement,, including bank holidays, but will also receive additional paid holiday each year whenever there is a Jewish holiday and the nursery has to close (this does not come from their holiday entitlement and they will be paid in full if it falls on a normal working day).

We have an on-site chef and staff are welcome to eat from the nursery menu, free of charge. They also have access to a staff canteen in the care home (school lunch type prices) and a small gym at the care home that our staff can access free of charge before or after work should they wish to.

The nursery is also part of an education and training center, delivering a new level 3 course in Intergenerational practice (early years and care home together) and this is something that is being offered (staggered) to nursery staff free of charge.

There is free on-site parking for any staff member who drives into work.

An intergenerational pre-school and day care with a Jewish ethos

We are a small pre-school and day care for all children from 3 months to five years. Based around a large, green and secure garden setting, we are the UK’s first intergenerational nursery. In our own bungalow within the grounds of Nightingale House, a care home for older people, the children develop a deeper understanding of the human life cycle and respect for others from their daily interactions with their older friends at Nightingale. Our nursery is a particularly warm and caring environment that provides unique opportunities for children to flourish as individuals while becoming confident, resilient, and enthusiastic learners.
