Health Care Assistant Salary : £8.95 to £10.00 per hour Location: Hampshire Hours : Full time or Nights staff ( alternate weekends) The main duties of the Health Care Assistant is to assist and support the Head of Care/Care Team Supervisor with assigned tasks in respect of resident’s personal care, under the supervision of the Head of Care/Registered Nurse/Care Team Supervisor at all times in order to provide the highest standards of care. Duties:` • Assist in maintaining the highest possible standard of care as delegated by the Senior Team member. • To read the care plans prior to helping the resident with any of their activities of daily living including washing, dressing, feeding and mobilising. • To report any incidents or accidents involving residents, visitors or staff to the Person in charge and ensure full details are recorded in the accident book. • To refer and report any complaints from residents or visitors to the Person in charge as soon as possible. • To refer all enquiries about the resident to the Person in Charge or Manager. • To escort residents on arranged hospital, dental or optician appointments including social trips and maintain high standards of care during this period. • To attend education programmes, including the compulsory attendance of mandatory training. • To undertake duties that you have been trained in as directed by the Person in charge. • Adopt the principle of ‘key worker’ • To be aware of and implement Company procedures with regards to each of the following: • Prevention of pressure ulcers/sores • Promotion of continence • Assessing and reporting dietary problems and encouraging adequate diet and fluid intake for each resident • Safe moving and handling of residents and load. • Assist with ‘Housekeeping’ duties where appropriate, e.g. tidying of rooms after use, e.g. bathrooms, dining room, sitting room. • Care for residents clothing, ensuring clothes are labelled and soiled clothes are put into laundry as they are taken off. • Maintain a laundry service when laundry assistant is off duty. • To be aware of and at all times adhere to COSHH regulations regarding the use and storage of all chemical agents. • To adhere to all company policies and procedures. • To be aware of the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974). • To protect and ensure the safety from abuse of all residents. • To inform the Registered Manager or person in charge of an safeguarding concerns. • To inform the Registered Manager or the person in charge of any dangerous or potentially dangerous incident or occurrence in order to ensure the safe operation of the service. • To be aware of Fire Regulations and procedures. Including the location of major incident procedure, and what action to take in any such event. • To assist in the safe storage, maintenance and economical use of all supplies and equipment. • To take precautions to avoid injury or hazard to residents, staff and visitors. • To comply with the services working practices to ensure effective use of resources. • To maintain total confidentiality regarding residents and their medical conditions. • To promote and maintain at all times the residents’ privacy, choice, personal dignity, independence and comfort. • To encourage and maintain good communication and working relationships with all disciplines involved with care. • To notify the Manager/Person in charge of sickness and expected date of return. • To promote high Infection Prevention and Control standards.
