We aim to provide a home for life for our residents and manage two houses - Halland House and The Lodge.
Both houses are situated in our grounds at Halland, a village in rural Sussex.
While our residents are able to enjoy the pleasures and opportunities that a warm local community brings, they also have easy access to the facilities of the town life in nearby Uckfield, Eastbourne, Lewes and Brighton.
The main house, Halland House, was established in 1972 as a children home and many of our residents have lived here since the house first opened, developing through adolescence into adulthood.
Over the past few years we have made many changes, all our accommodation having been extended and refurbished. The facilities are divided into three house groups, two inside the main house and one, an annexe, known as The Lodge.
The ground floor house group is for those residents who are most dependent on support and it has been developed for their needs. A variety of furnishings have been specially adapted to cater for those who need a greater degree of support.
The first floor house group is for those who are not adequately able to arrange their own skills and requirements as well as they would like, but demonstrate an ability to grasp knowledge of independence. This floor has recently been completely refurbished and produces a calm and pleasant living area for all residents.
The Lodge opened in 1993 and focuses on the development of independent living skills.
The grounds attached to the buildings are spacious, and well maintained providing very pleasant surroundings for all residents to enjoy, with a great deal of emphasis being placed on outside activities when the weather permits.
