Domiciliary Care Worker Job Description Introduction As a staff member of PMSS you will be given support from the Assistant Manager and Administrator/Accountant Trainee, and in their absence, you will be supported by the Registered Manager Job Hours Flexible depending on the needs of the organisation, ranging from 16 – 40 hrs a week Purpose of the Role To promote independent living for the people we support using a person-centred approach. To observe and promote the independence, dignity and privacy of the people we support. You will be helping the people we support to make informed choices to enhance their quality of life. As a carer you will help the people to maintain relations with other relevant professionals and family’s members. Key Responsibilities • Provide support to the people we support, together with their families and their support teams to design, deliver and review their support plans • Support the people we support to learn and apply new life skills essential for their day to day lives • Where necessary and required, assist the people we support with their personal care • Help the people we support with their medication • Help the people we support with their money management • Provide support for the day to day travel arrangements and holidays as required • Facilitate collaborations between families and external parties through trust and honesty • Keep records including support plans, finance, health and medical, whether hand or electronically written, in a secure and confidential manner • Complete all required training • Observe PMSS policies and procedures as documented, while keeping the company’s, colleagues and people we support information confidential • Attend staff meetings and individual supervisions as scheduled • Supporting and encouraging people we support to find opportunities in community activities, volunteering, leisure and education and enable them to take part in them • Observe and report any concerns about the physical, mental, emotional, social or financial wellbeing of the people we support to the line manager or other parties as required • This job description is not exhaustive. There will be times you will be required to carry out tasks as they arise Person Specification Qualification Has or willingness to work towards QCF (NVQ) Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care- Essential UK Driving License- Desirable (Mileage paid) Eligible to work in the UK- Essential Experience Previous experience of working in health care sector- Desirable Experience of lone working- Desirable Experience in administering medication and providing personal care- Desirable Personal skills, competence and values Demonstrates company values, empathy and compassion to service users and organisation members- Essential Contributes to the organisation through personal skills and able to assist others to become better in life and work- Essential Willing to learn new skills essential to improve the lives of service users- Essential Have basis numeracy, literacy and administrative skills essential for daily book and record keeping- Essential Communicates effectively and is a good listener Able to prioritise workload thinking outside the box for solutions and options- Essential Committed towards working with adults and young people with mental and/or physical disability- Essential Able to work flexible hours including short and long calls including night shifts – depending on the need- Essential Committed to equal opportunities and diversity - Essential Willing to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check- Essential Willing to work weekends- Essential Knowledge and Understanding Understanding of Person-Centred Approach in providing support, choice and empowerment- Desirable Basic understanding of Health and Safety- Desirable Willing to carry out relevant mandatory trainings- Desirable
