An opportunity has arisen for a Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist (Band 7) to join the team at Cygnet Chesterholme.
Based in the picturesque town of Hexham in Northumberland, Cygnet Chesterholme is a 16 bed specialist high dependency complex care service providing assessment and treatment for individuals living with a learning disability and complex needs. The team can also support those who have mental health needs, including those who have been detained under the Mental Health Act, as well as those who have complex behaviours. We accept emergency referrals and the team are experienced in managing them quickly and efficiently to ensure transition for service users is as smooth as possible.
In this role you will:
Take responsibility for the provision of a occupational therapy service for a defined specialist client-group, utilising specialist skills through experience and post-graduate training.
To manage a caseload of clients with complex needs and differential diagnosis, using evidenced based practice/client based principles to assess, plan, formulate, implement and evaluate interventions in a variety of settings (individually and/or in groups and as part of a multidisciplinary team).
To supervise and mentor others, providing support and development, including supervision and continuing professional development to other occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, where applicable, and providing training to the wider staff team.
The Successful Candidate:
•A Degree / Postgraduate Diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy, registration with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) and a member of the RCOT (Royal College of Occupational Therapy)
•Experience in the field of learning disabilities is essential
•Currently operating as Specialist / Highly Specialist OT
•An understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and can take a “hands on” approach
•The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
•Excellent communication / time management skills

The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS and reference check and an offer of employment will be subject to successful clearance.
