Health Care Assistant
Purpose and summary of position
To work in the Care home setting, providing support and encouragement to clients. The position involves enabling our clients to maintain independence by providing physical and emotional support. The role is about working as part of the team to maintain a happy, stable caring environment that puts the welfare and health and safety of our clients first. Important qualities of this role are being a good role model and conducting yourself in a professional manner at all times whilst on duty or representing Hestia Care at outside events.
Main duties and responsibilities
1.To build good relationships with our clients and other staff in the Care Home.
2.To do everything possible to maintain a safe, clean, enjoyable environment to live and work in, this will involve some domestic duties at times.
3.To learn about our clients individual needs in the most appropriate way following all relevant policies and procedures.
4.To assist clients in their individual needs and report as required.
5.To assist our clients to maintain personal cleanliness, general hygiene and appearance. This will include intimate care.
6.To assist or be a ‘key’ worker for a small group of clients as required.
7.To promote equality, acknowledging individual differences and upload the rights and responsibilities of our client and staff.
8.To do everything possible to protect our clients from any form of abuse from staff, visitors or each other.
9.To write accurate reports and have an awareness of care planning.
10.Undertake any additional duties as required, which are relevant to the post.
•To attend and take an active part in staff meetings.
•To attend work reliably and punctually, wearing a clean uniform and correct footwear.
•To attend all training as required and be prepared to achieve qualifications appropriate to the role.
•To ensure that you keep yourself up to date with all policies and procedure changes
•To work in a way that ensures that neither your own Health & Safety is jeopardised or that of your colleagues
•To ensure that any issues that may arise are reported to a Line Manager without delay
•To ensure that a positive image of Hestia Care is promoted at all times and that any risks to the Hestia Care image or reputation is reported immediately.
