Job Role Overview
Is responsible for overseeing appropriate standards of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation programmes of care delivered to a group of residents within the home.

Act as a leader, advisor and role model to less experienced nurses ensuring appropriate care is implemented and maintained.
Be involved in implementing and monitoring quality assurance initiatives. This includes devising action plans and measuring outcomes.
Be involved in the development of, and participate in, teaching programmes for qualified and unqualified staff and students.
Act as an assessing mentor to students, when accredited.
Assist with induction programme of new members of staff into the home.
Participate in the delivery of professional development programmes to meet the needs of registered and unqualified nursing staff.
Take charge of the home on a regular basis acting as the nominated deputy to the person with 24 hours accountability.
Covering day and night duty act as duty nurse for the home as required.
Assist the home manager to undertake individual performance review of junior staff.
Work toward attaining specific objectives that are agreed with and reviewed by the sister/charge nurse on a regular basis.
