We are currently looking for Care Officers to join our committed residential staff team in supporting our pupils before and after school. Vale of Evesham School is a Specialist School for Cognition and Learning. The school caters for pupils who have moderate, severe and profound learning difficulties.


The school has a residential provision for weekly boarders, which ensures that we offer a 24-hour curriculum for up to 15 pupils. Many of our pupils have other barriers to their learning including autism, challenging behaviour, physical disabilities and complex health needs.  


Overall Responsibilities

1. To maintain high standards of Child Care Practice

2. To maintain consistency of Child Care Practice

3. To keep abreast of current legalisation particularly with regard to children in residential care

4. To comply with equal opportunity, anti-discrimination and anti-oppressive policies and practice

5. To adhere to the provision’s accepted Safeguarding Policy

6. To adhere to the provision’s accepted Behaviour Policy

7. To work as a team member

8. To lead the Care Assistant in their duties 


Normal working hours are Monday to Thursday evenings, and Tuesday to Friday mornings, with some Monday to Friday daytime working, on a set shift pattern, below is an example of the hours: 


Monday    3.00pm–10.00pm

Tuesday        7.00am-9:30am & 2.00pm-10.00pm

Wednesday   7.00am-9:30am & 3.00pm–10.00pm

Thursday 7.00am-9.00am & 3.00pm-8.00pm

Friday        7.00am – 9:30am


Plus 1.5 hours per week administration time.

 

The post benefits from set shift patterns, with no weekend or bank holiday working required. It is a term time only position, so you would not be required to work during school holidays. Sleep-in duties may be required, these are paid separately in addition to the above salary.

Essential skills/Experience • NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) or equivalent or be willing to undertake the qualification • Experience and Knowledge of working with SEN • At least 2 years care experience.
