Our Story

Care UK has delivered award-winning, high quality care for older people for over 30 years and we are proud to be one of the leading providers of care homes in the country.

We have over 120 homes from Scotland to Dorset. Each one is run by caring and compassionate team members who take great pride in making a positive difference to the lives of 7000 older people.

Compare us to similar providers and you’ll see we have the highest percentage of homes rated good or excellent.  What’s more we are continuing to invest and expand - we have opened 31 new homes in the past five years and in 2019 and 2020, another 14 new homes will join the Care UK family.

Our passion is to enable residents to continue living active and fulfilling lives in supportive, safe and comfortable surroundings.

This passion for great care and the fact that we are building more new care homes than any other provider means that we offer a great place for people to build a fantastic career with us and we have plenty of opportunities for training and progression.

Development

Care UK is committed to providing support and development of skills for all of our colleagues. We have actively supported the employer development of trailblazer apprenticeships, including healthcare support worker, senior support worker, assistant care practitioner roles, and currently the apprenticeship for lifestyle co-ordinator.

We currently have over 600 colleagues in learning, working towards achieving their apprenticeships in areas as diverse as health and social care, administration, management and hospitality.

Our priority throughout 2019 is to provide access to development to meet career aspirations across our business.  We continue to invest in both our existing employees and recruiting externally for our apprenticeship programmes.

We see potential in everyone and we’ll help you fulfil yours. Here at Care UK, we want all of our colleagues to have a long and successful career with us. Here are just some of the ways we help our team members to have more fulfilling careers:

Bespoke learning and development programmes - Whether you’re new to care or highly experienced. We have innovative programmes tailored to each role, as well as clear progression paths to allow you to map out your career with us.

Continuous Professional Development - If you’re a registered nurse you’ll be automatically provided with access to ClinicalSkills.Net a resource that provides you with in depth clinical procedure guidance to continue developing your skills.

Role specific skills training workshops - Designed specifically for our nurses & team leaders to learn new skills and build on existing knowledge to reach your full potential within your current role and support your next steps.

Apprenticeships - Apprenticeships let you earn as you learn and acquire recognised qualifications. Today, they’re open to anyone looking to develop new skills, not just young people starting out. At Care UK, team members who are recruited in Apprenticeship roles are paid our standard team pay rates, which is always National Living Wage or above. To find out more get in touch with our team Rcs.training@careuk.com

Moving up the career ladder - If you’re ambitious to progress we’ll support you with tailored training and development programmes. If you’re dedicated and ambitious, we’ll help you go far.

Staying in your role - We appreciate that you will also want to focus on being the best you can be. We’ll support you with ongoing training to help you do just that. When you’re part of the Care UK team, you don’t just have a job, you have a career.

Returning to work - We support people looking to return to work through training and development, helping them to adapt and learn new skills. Whether you’re a parent looking to take on part time work, someone caring for family members, have just taken a break from your career or even a nurse returning to work, wanting to regain your PIN. Whatever the reason, we can support you.

Fulfilling Lives

Fulfilling Lives is the core purpose of Care UK. It is about delivering great care for the residents in our homes, and remembering that sometimes we can make a real difference by supporting their wider family through challenging times. It is also about making sure that we support each other to learn and grow so that we can all have fulfilling careers.

We also have a core belief that helps us deliver fulfilling lives, that every one of us makes a difference. This is important for every single member of our team to remember, whether you are a housekeeper or hostess, carer or kitchen assistant, manager or maintenance person... we all have an important role to play in delivering fulfilling lives for residents, their families and each other.

Key to all of this though is our three values: caring, passionate and teamwork. These values are important right across Care UK, from helping us think about the type of people we invite to join our teams to the way that we approach our work.
