We are looking for Autism Support Workers to join our Services based in Edinburgh on a permanent full time or part time basis.

As an Autism support worker, being flexible is essential for both you and for our services, you may be required to work a variety of different shifts throughout the week, including mornings, evenings, sleepovers, nightshift & weekends. The best thing about flexibility is that it works both ways, while we may require that you work a variety of shifts, we also understand that you’ll have your own commitments, and we will try to factor this into our rotas to achieve the best for both parties.

What does an Autism Support Worker do?

As an Autism Support Worker, you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will help to ensure the people we support live a more enjoyable, dignified, fulfilling life. You will have excellent communication skills and be a naturally patient and empathetic person. Typical responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting people to live independently – upskilling, budget management, housework, organising required appointments and cooking healthy meals.
  • Relationship building – supporting the people we support to build and maintain positive relationships with those around them.
  • Community & Social Inclusion - supporting individuals to access and participate within their local communities and access social events to promote life skills and individuality.
  • Personal care - This may include prompting the people we support to take their medication and assisting with bathing, showering, and using the bathroom. Not all Autism Support Worker roles include personal care.

Have you thought about working for Primecare Health?
